Enrichment Programs
Programs that have taken place here and will continue to take place include: VINS, The Vermont Institute of Natural Science, Hullabaloo with Alexandra Smith, pottery classes with Turning Wheel Pottery, Music Together with Debbie Zaccheo, The Mark Skinner Library provides monthly preschool reading visits and our Sr.Toddler’s enjoy their toddler story hour. These programs are made possible by grants from the Stratton Foundation, Stewart Holiday Match Grants, Jonathan Levin grant from the Southern Vermont Art Center and generous donations made through the Vermont Country Store.
Outreach Programs
Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union’s Early Education Department
Head Start P.L.U.S. Children’s Integrated Services which includes:
• Family Infant Toddler Program, Children up Stream Services (CUPS)
• United Counseling Bennington County Child Care Association (BCCCA)
• Vermont Department of Health (Tooth Tudor School)
Bennington-Rutland Collaboration/Rutland South Supervisory Union Collaboration
In order to have these collaborations all programs in which pre-kindergarten children are counted as part of the districts ADM must meet the following quality standards:
• Are licensed by the Child Development Division and are in good regulatory
standing
• Are NAEYC accredited, or have 4 STARS in Vermont’s Step Ahead Recognition
System
• Have a licensed early childhood or early childhood special educator
• Calculate the actual per hour cost of pre-kindergarten education and apply
to the school district to be recognized as a publicly funded pre-kindergarten
site.
• Exclude from a parent’s bill the total amount that is paid to the center by
the district
