Fundamentals Workshop
Three of our staff will be taking this Fundamentals for Early Childhood Professionals workshop through the Community College of Vermont that began last month and will continue until May. This fundamentals course is aligned with the Vermont Northern Lights Career Development Center Level I Core Competencies for Early Childhood Professionals. The students will gain knowledge, skills and dispositions in early childhood development; relationships with families and the community; teaching and learning; healthy and safe learning environments; professionalism and program organization; Basic Specialized Care; and child program licensing requirements. Completion of this course requires experience with critical thinking, written and oral reflection and the completion of observations of children. A certificate of completion will be awarded at the end of this 45 hour course.
Hullabaloo
We are again fortunate enough to have Alexandra Langstaff here with us and her wonderful Hullabaloo program. Alexandra will be spending time with our crawlers and toddlers every Wednesday morning for the next few weeks. The children and staff will be enjoying some great music and moving their bodies in unique and creative ways. Alexandra has a great way having the children sneaking around as snakes, or crawling on the ground as quiet mice, and just having some plain old fun. It is a fun time had by all.
Upcoming Events
NDS will be having their Annual Golf Tournament at the Manchester Country Club on June 20, 2012. Look for more details as the time gets closer. We will need prizes for our raffle as well as first, second and third place teams. So please if you can donate something, just let us know.
NDS will also be having their third Annual Dad’s Night Out, Tuesday February 21st from 5:30pm – 7:00pm in our multipurpose room. It will be the same agenda as last year with the making of the birdhouses and painting them while enjoying some pizza and beverages. This is a workshop for children ages three and up.
Parent Conferences
Parent conferences will be taking place this month in the Senior Toddler room. This is a great time for staff and parents to get together and talk about all of the wonderful things that their child is learning.
