Our
Future...
While the endowment
from the Capital Campaign will subsidize the operations
of our new building to keep our parent fees affordable,
it will not cover the costs of future needs and expanded
programs that are critical to the success of NDS.
Within
the years 2007-2008, the Annual Campaign will achieve
the following goals:
1.
Provide our professional, dedicated staff with livable
salaries and benefits
- Many of our core staff have been with us for over
a decade
- The average wage for our employees is $11.00 per
hour
2.
Create a Sliding Scale Fee for low to moderate income
families
45 % of NDS families
would qualify for a sliding scale fee based system
Manchester average income Level is below the State
of Vermont average
3.
Create a Scholarship Program for qualified families
Nearly one third of
the NDS families qualify for state assistance. The
cost for one child to attend NDS:
Children ages 24 months
and up is $140.00 per week
Children ages six weeks
to 24 months is $175.00 per week
Our after-school program 5 years to 12 years is $65.00 per week
4.
Obtain Accreditation with the National Association
for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
- Gaining NAEYC Accreditation would allow NDS to
attract highly qualified teachers, give NDS the
opportunity for additional professional training
for our current staff and additional grant funding
from national foundations
5.
Continue to expand our Pre-K and Pre-School programs
- Teachers will utilize the Creative Curriculum
in our partnership with the Bennington County Supervisory
Union
6.
Create quality, affordable summer camp programs for
children five to twelve years of age
- Currently, camps in the region are offered sporadically
over the summer, are extremely expensive and are
not offered for all age groups. Working families
need childcare during the summer vacation from mid
June to the end of August.
